System Overloaded – Overuse Injuries

In the June 2008 issue of Indianapolis Woman magazine, with the help of reporter Patricia Hagen, I describe some of the most common hand pains caused by some of today’s electronic gadgets, such as cell phones, BlackBerry devices and video games.  In addition to patient complaints related to sending too many text messages, I have begun to see a few folks suffering from overuse injuries after playing Wii. As people continue to play hours upon hours of Wii Bowl or Wii Tennis, this is going to become an increasing trend.  If you experience pain or swelling, you should stop or reduce the time spent doing the activity that is causing you discomfort. If the pain persists, you should see a physician and get a diagnosis as soon as possible.  Often the problem can be resolved quickly if it’s treated quickly.  Click Here to read the full article and learn more on how to avoid these common overuse injuries.
